Monarch, the Granada's regal cousin

I just blew up the picture and saw the “Dean Brothers” dealer sticker on the trunk. A local dealer, we leased a Mercury Villager from them in the late 90s. When the brake pads wore out in front I decided I could do the job myself. I couldn’t, long story, but I actually cracked a caliper. I think I was leaving town and had no time to fix. My wife called the dealer, they towed the car to their shop and fixed it “under warranty” and no charge.
They went out of business shortly after, but will never forget how they saved my bacon when they had absolutely no reason to.

Long ago, in a galaxy far far away...
Leasing: when I met my wife she was leasing, took us a while to break the cycle.
Villager: Had small kids, tried a Windstar and Voyager, they drove like trucks, the Villager was smaller and relatively nimble. Had a first generation SE-R as my daily then, 90s Nissan was peak Nissan, the Villager was a Nissan Quest. I kind of liked it.

nice - the 302 Monarch/Grenada was one of the finest sleepers ever made. Looks 100% grandma, but hides 5 liters of yummy goodness.

I was grabbing lunch and didn't linger, just snapped a quick pic. Looked very clean, must have led a sheltered life, we are in the Midwest rust belt.

My high school girlfriend drove a Dodge Diplomat. It was incredible.
